When it comes to servicing your automobile, we here at Trojan Auto Care do not want you to forget about your tires and wheels. They need a little TLC, too. When it comes to servicing your vehicle’s wheels and tires, there are a couple of things that you can do and we will do the rest. After all, the tires and wheels play a crucial role in your vehicle’s handling and safety. Let’s talk more about this below.
Pressure Check
Schedule a few minutes every two weeks to check the air pressure in each tire to see what it reads. Make sure that each tire is filled to the recommended PSI. If any of the tires are low, including the spare, add air to the tires that have air pressure ratings under the recommended PSI. Make sure to only add as much air to meet the recommended pressure. Do not add extra air to the tires.
Inspection
During your pressure check, look carefully at each tire to see if anything looks strange. For example, look for nails, screws, or other hazards in the tire tread. Also, look at how the tire tread is wearing down. Make sure it is wearing down evenly. Take another moment to inspect the sidewalls of the tires for damage. For example, you do not want to see that a sidewall has a crack in it.
Rotation
Bring your car, truck, or utility vehicle to our shop every 5,000 miles to every 10,000 miles so we can rotate the tires. Many people ignore the need for tire rotations because they think they are a waste of time. The reason why the tires need to be rotated is that it changes the points of pressure that the wheel parts and brakes apply on the tires. This ensures even tread wear.
Balance
We will also balance your wheels when we rotate the tires. What a wheel balance service does is ensures that the weight of the wheels is even. You do not want uneven wheel weight across the axles. This will affect your ability to control your automobile and to up the tires.
Alignment
Finally, we can realign your wheels if they have been knocked out of alignment. This can happen if you drive too fast over bumps or potholes or if you hit a curb when you turn around the corner.
