Five Things We Will Do to Make Sure Your Car’s AC Works All Summer Long

Call Trojan Auto Care today to schedule an appointment for an inspection of your car, truck, or utility vehicle’s air conditioner. Spring is the perfect time to give us a chance to inspect and test the system to make sure it will work all summer long. You do not want to get stuck without an air conditioner in your car during the hot and humid Ohio summers. We are going to list some of the things we will do during the air conditioner inspection appointment.

1. Inspect and Test the Compressor

The compressor has been turned off all winter long and this can actually cause it to malfunction. As such, we will inspect the compressor and test it to make sure it is working properly. The compressor converts the gas refrigerant into liquid refrigerant and then circulates the liquid through the air conditioning system. You need a working compressor for cold air.

2. Inspect and Test the Condenser

As the refrigerant circulates through the system, it gets hot. The condenser is located directly behind your car’s grille so it can draw air in from the outside to cool off the refrigerant. It uses a fan, too, and we will talk more about this next. We will inspect and test the condenser to make sure it has not been damaged by road debris. We will also make sure it isn’t clogged.

3. Check the Condenser Fan, As Well

While we are taking a good look at the condenser, we will inspect the condenser fan, too. This gives us a chance to make sure that it is not damaged or malfunctioning. For example, if a piece of road debris has hit the fan and broken it, we will replace it with a new fan.

4. Inspect and Test the Electrical System

Another thing that can cause the condenser fan to malfunction is a faulty electrical system. As such, we will inspect and test the electrical system to make sure it is working properly. If there are any problems, such as blown fuses, we will replace them.

5. Check the Refrigerant Level

Finally, your air conditioning system needs plenty of refrigerant to keep the cold air blowing into the cabin. We will take a look at the refrigerant level and add refrigerant if necessary.
